With a large emphasis on outdoor education, the new Little Wellies Day Nursery has been designed specifically for free flow play from our new barn into the garden and farmland.
Situated within the lands of our family-run farm, less than a mile from Oundle, the new nursery gives immediate access to woodland for Forest School, a huge play area with bespoke equipment, a petting farm attached with a variety of animals and access to the entire farm site with tractors, ponds, meadows, livestock and much more. The nursery has been designed so that all of the above is provided whilst still maintaining a completely safe environment for children to flourish and feel completely comfortable.
Creating a space for learning and adventure
Our story… Tilly and Michael
Two years ago, we began an ambitious but exciting project to convert an old stone barn into a unique children’s day nursery set within our family farm.
After many years of teaching, we returned to the farm to focus on our family. We soon realised just how lucky we were to be able to raise our children in a farm environment. The endless opportunities for adventure made us eager to share this privilege with other families and with an ingrained passion for education, the Little Wellies Day Nursery was born.
As parents we know the anxiety that can come with dropping your child off in the morning, which is why we are passionate in our vision to provide consistent care with regular communication. We will always be there to listen to any worries and concerns whilst working hard to ease them as quickly as possible. We want each day to count for you and your little ones.
Our Manager - Clare
I am incredibly proud and honoured to be the manager of Little Wellies.
I am passionate about Early Years; a love that has grown throughout my sixteen years of teaching and one that led me to the amazing opportunity of opening my primary schools first ever nursery. Being a Reception teacher was incredible but it was not until I went into nursery that I finally realised I was home. It was as if all that I had learnt over the years could finally come into play, through the freedom to build little minds, explore their worlds, love and nurture them and let them grow in their own unique way.
Tilly and I worked together in the same primary school and when I discovered this opportunity, there was no holding me back! I cannot wait to get to know your child, to get to know their amazing little personalities and to show them that my belief in them will never wain. I also cannot wait to meet you, as I believe that for a setting to be truly exceptional, the adults must work together, to help and listen to each other; my wish is that you always feel the door is open or you can pick up the phone to talk. I hope you feel as excited as we are about Little Wellies and I just cannot wait to put on my wellies, to get my hands messy and to grow little dreamers, explorers and pioneers.
Our Ethos
At Little Wellies our ethos is a simple but passionate one; to love, nurture and care for the children, as if they were our own.
We celebrate and explore the uniqueness of each and every child; finding exciting ways to help them grow and ignite a self-belief that will last a lifetime.
Our mission is to see each child’s learning journey, in a way that is as special as they are. We celebrate their own starting points, strengths and interests. We plan our environment with a purpose, to have an impact, to develop curious minds.
We believe that everyone in our setting should feel loved, valued and unstoppable in their pursuit to be all that they can be. By putting on our little wellies each day and getting out into the great unknown, we can become dreamers, explorers and pioneers.
When we feel afraid or unsure, someone is right there to tell us: “it’s ok”, “have a go”, “I believe in you”. We will build children who dare to wonder “what if I can?”
We are passionate in our quest to involve our families every step of the way. We know that in working together to nurture, excite, enable, value, listen to and inspire all our little learners, they will leave us with all that they need, to be everything they are.
